1981-1989 LB Camden’s planning dept, Tree and Landscape Officer. Responsible for tree planting programme, managing all protected tree matters and advising on landscape implications for development, including major sites, and expert evidence at appeals and inquiries.
1989 – 1991, FRHJ Architects, London: managing a landscape design team working on hotel developments throughout England.
1991 – 2007, Hart District Council, I progressed from Principal Landscape Architect to Policy and Landscape Manager, managing multi-disciplinary professional teams. Work included building and landscape design, planning policy (including Local Plan), grounds maintenance, digital development esp. use of GIS, development control advice, buildings maintenance, trees. High profile projects included new community developments, project managing masterplan for major new settlement, specialist evidence to public inquiry into SE Regional Plan.
2007-2011 Cabespace Enabler, focussed on Spaceshaper and GI projects.
2007-present, working as landscape and planning consultant, providing design and policy services to range of public and private clients.
2013 –present, SoS appointed Member of South Downs National Park Authority, elected as Chair 2020. Voluntary work has included long association with Landscape Institute – chairing standing committees, contributing to publications, representing on external bodies, member of Council, Vice President 2013 – 2017. Numerous public speaking engagements including national and international conferences and training workshops.
