Yasmin is a chartered architect and director of Dennis Sharp Architects.
She has won awards for eco designs and heritage buildings including the Listed buildings at Ascot Racecourse. She is also a developer and is currently constructing an estate of houses in Bedfordshire.
Yasmin led and co-ordinated a major EU Thermie project, with seven other institutions, for research into exemplar sustainable projects across Europe. Yasmin has considerable experience of working with public sector organisations. Her work with the East of England Development Agency focused on social innovation through regeneration.
Yasmin initiated the first RIBA Conference on design and mental health in 1992. She devised creative programmes for social inclusiveness, gender and racial equality at the University of Westminster when she was a senior lecturer there. She originated the AAXX project to raise the profile of women in the profession when she was a trustee and Hon Secretary of the Architectural Association. As head of design of a multi-academy sponsor, Yasmin was responsible for the design and delivery of over 16 new academy schools.
Yasmin’s current research and design focus is on the needs of an ageing population and in particular the requirements of older women and people of diverse backgrounds.
