Areas of Expertise
Ecological regeneration, Nature-based design, Water management
I have worked as a landscape architect in leading private practices for over 15 years, currently at Churchman Thornhill Finch in Bristol and prior to that for 11 years at Grant Associates in Bath.
Whilst based in the south west I have worked on projects throughout the UK and abroad, notably in Singapore where I was part of the Gardens by the Bay landscape infrastructure team. In the UK I have worked extensively on residential, education and regeneration projects both at a master-planning and delivery stage and am currently involved in a large mixed-use regeneration masterplan in Tottenham Hale and the first PassivHaus through-school in Wales.
Having worked in practices that focus on a design-led approach to landscape architecture I have been lucky enough to collaborate and work with some of the best architects, engineers, ecologists and other consultants and believe that the best projects come from active engagement between all members of the design team, client and wider stakeholders. I also sit on the Design West review panel and have experience of reviewing projects during the planning process. With a first degree in sculpture, I am interested in the intersection between culture and the environment. I believe that good design should be socially inclusive, technically hardworking, culturally relevant, ecologically sensitive and imbued with a sense of wonder.
