A passionate and ambitious urban and transport planner, Catriona Swanson has 12 years’ experience of delivering active travel, sustainable transport, regeneration and placemaking schemes in both the public and private sectors.
Catriona is an experienced project manager with an enviable record of delivering award-winning walking and cycling infrastructure. A skilled influencer, she is able to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders including senior officers, politicians and residents, explaining proposals and concepts in a clear and positive way to gain support.
In February Catriona will join PJA in their new Manchester office as an Associate leading on active travel. She joins from Arup where she successfully established an active travel team in the North West and Yorkshire leading on projects such as low traffic neighbourhoods, feasibility studies for new routes, network planning, and emergency active travel projects in response to Covid-19.
Catriona previously worked at Salford City Council for over 10 years where she led on all aspects of walking and cycling infrastructure. She established Salford City Council as one of the leading local authorities on walking and cycling infrastructure nationally and is well respected within the industry for delivering ambitious, award-winning schemes with a focus on quality.
