Specialises in landscape, environmental & colour assessment / planning, masterplanning & design, & has done so for c. 40 years. Instrumental in promoting the ‘landscape-led and iterative’ approach to development, now being adopted by LPAs & others.
Member of LI & Natural England working groups updating current guidance & providing consultation responses to revised NPPF, Government’s 25 Year Environment Plan, & Agriculture Bill.
Has judged awards & competitions for the LI. In 90s & 00s, worked on large-scale high-profile projects in Middle East & Europe e.g. £26bn eco-resort in Montenegro, with architects incl. Norman Foster & Richard Rogers, liaising with / presenting to governments, NGOs & clients, & managing EIA / design teams.
Today, advises government bodies, acts as expert witness at planning inquiries & is member of design review panels. Mostly working with local communities on neighbourhood plans, helping people develop an informed understanding of the value of their environments. President of Malvern Spa Association. Founder member of the Nature & Recreation Society (NARS). Author of novel Black Dog Sunday.
