Dan is an architect and founder of architecture practice Civic London (2006).

Dan has provided professional design services and strategic enabling advice as an architect working with community groups and their local councils since 1998.

Civic received the national Architect of the Year Award for Environmental Excellence for its work on the Gamlingay Eco Hub which offers a study in how to creatively bring back to life an apparently redundant community centre on a budget.

Dan’s experience of co-designing community facilities with the people they are actually for, has led to an in depth understanding of how community infrastructure works. This experience has been formulated in response to the day-to-day requirements of specific community groups but offers applications at a wider, joined-up scale.

Dan studied at Cambridge University and London Met Architecture Schools and has taught MArch Architecture as a studio leader at Oxford Brookes School of Architecture.

Dan is a Civic Trust Awards Assessor, High Streets Task Force expert and a member of the GLA’s Specialist Assistance Team. Dan also sits on the Oxford Design Review Panel and Panels for Enfield and Hounslow Councils. Dan regularly makes contributions as a Design Council Built Environment Expert on social sustainability, environmental sustainability, and community infrastructure.
