I am a director of Churchman Thornhill Finch, a landscape design practice based in London and Bristol.
I established the Bristol studio five years ago. I originally qualified as an Architect, studying at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and working in London for Arup Associates. Realising my passion was external spaces, I retrained at the University of Kingston-upon Thames, gaining a distinction. During this time, I was short-listed in a furniture design competition for the Earth Centre (1997) and led the design for a show garden at Westonbirt Garden Festival (1998). In 1999 I went to work for Grant Associates.
Over the following 13 years I became a Senior Associate and worked on many high-profile projects including: RIBA Stirling Prize winning Accordia; New Islington in Manchester; Gardens by the Bay in Singapore (as Main Gardens lead); Church Street and Paddington Green Infrastructure and Public Realm Plan.
All the above won accolades for their design quality. I am leading the practice’s move towards becoming a B Corp practice. I am a Fellow of the Landscape Institute, a Member of the RIBA, on the Steering Group of Landscape Architects Declare, a member of the Bristol Urban Design Forum and Design: South West review panels.
